There are 17 Delaware State Parks to explore during your stay in the state, with free Delaware camping spots to suit everyone’s needs. Popular sites like Trap Pond State Park and Lums Pond State Park are inland but still close to the ocean. They also have Delaware State Forest Free Camping.
Delaware Seashore State Park is one of several Delaware State Parks that offer beachside camping. This park, which is located in Rehoboth Beach, provides convenient access to the beach for swimming. Anglers can visit the park’s Indian River Inlet for more water and an easy method to launch a boat or kayak. Cape Henlopen State Park, located north of Delaware Seashore Stare Park, is another beach campground where boondockers rave about the riding paths and easy beach access.

1. Free Delaware Boondocking – Royal Farms

This is a side lot of the royal farms for Free Delaware Boondocking. It is used by truck drivers overnight since there is a separate area/island for diesel fuel. You can easily park along the guardrail near a metal clothes/shoe collection bin. I have a truck plus a 22 foot trailer. FYI across the highway (301) is an actual truck stop but it is always full for trailers. It does have car parking in the front and has really good food.

The road in is Paved. There are 30 or more campsites at this location for Free Delaware RV Boondocking. Rest area is open 24 hours. Restrooms were clean and they even offer free WiFi. There are signs that say 6 hour parking but we were there much longer and no one bothered us. You can hear some cars passing on the road but overall quiet. I would stay here again if I was nearby.
4. Free Delaware Camping Spots – Dover Downs Casino

The Dover Downs Casino is located with the Dover International Raceway. They have lots of paved parking and a large gravel lot that can be used for overnight for trucks and RV’s. These Free Delaware Camping Spots are not available race weekends.
Free Delaware RV Parking
When it comes to Delaware RV parks, many of the nicest sites for campers are along the coast. One of the most popular campgrounds in Delaware is Jellystone Park Camp Resort in Delaware Beach. Although located immediately on the ocean, Delaware beaches are only a short drive away.
Due to its thickly wooded sites, G&R Campground has received excellent evaluations for both RV and tent sites. This campground is only a short drive from Dover, the state capital, where guests may dine and shop.
National Parks in Delaware
Delaware was the first state to adopt the United States Constitution, and the state’s colonial history is preserved at First State National Historical Park. The First State National Historical Park is a short drive from Philadelphia and New Jersey and is located just outside of Wilmington, the state’s main city.
Free Delaware Dispersed Camping
When it comes to free camping in Delaware, there aren’t many options; nevertheless, some RV sites may be suitable for someone passing through or planning a trip to the beach.
Two of the locations are casinos, including the centrally positioned Harrington Raceway & Casino and the northern Delaware Park Casino, both of which have easy access to I-95.
Smyrna Rest Area is another alternative just off the freeway. There aren’t many amenities, like at the other free spots, but given Delaware’s small area, nothing is out of reach with a short drive.
National Forests in Delaware: The National Forest Service does not manage any land in Delaware.

There are lots of camping options in Delaware, with more than 150 miles of trails, excellent coastal and inland fishing, and 20 state parks and forests. Camping in Delaware offers a variety of options for outdoor enthusiasts, whether you like the convenience of an RV or the simplicity of a tent.
Delaware Seashore State Park, a beach park just a few minutes’ drive from the summer hotspot of Dewey Beach, is the most popular campground. Tent campers and RVs both appreciate the near proximity to the Atlantic beaches and tranquil coastal bays — six miles of sand and sun are just steps away from your selected campsite, which offers lots of full-hookup spots.
During the summer, the Delaware Seashore has beach wheelchairs available on a first-come, first-served basis, and mobility mats at the Towers Ocean and South Inlet locations give normal wheelchairs access. The Cottages at Indian River Inlet are a terrific close-by relaxing option for family members or friends who want to experience the beach but don’t want to camp.
Many campers also visit Dewey Beach, approximately a mile north of the park, to enjoy the restaurants, clubs, and nightlife. Dewey Beach offers a nice change of pace from a day of sunbathing and swimming, with plenty of watersports, cafes, dancing, and live music.
Cape Henlopen State Park is a dream destination for wildlife and history lovers just a few miles north along Delaware’s Route One. Cape Henlopen, a former World War II fort with miles of shady wooded paths for hiking and bicycling through coastal marshes, gives access to both calm Delaware Bay waters and Atlantic surf, as well as miles of shady wooded trails for hiking and bicycling through coastal marshes. At Cape Henlopen State Park in Delaware, you’ll find yourself tucked amid sandy woodland sites with picnic tables, campfires, and plenty of pine trees, as well as small cottages.
Campers can drive about 10 miles south to Fenwick Island State Park, which has three miles of beaches on the barrier island, to avoid the summer crowds while still enjoying the beach. The coastal and bayside park is sandwiched between Ocean City, Maryland, and the “Quiet Resorts” of Bethany Beach, South Bethany, and Fenwick Island, and is known as the “Quiet Beach.”
If beaches aren’t your thing, Delaware’s inland parks and forests provide a variety of activities and entertainment, from Trap Pond’s primeval-looking water pathways great for canoeing and kayaking to Lums Pond’s treetop daring ropes course and ziplines.

1. Blackbird State Forest, Smyrna: Camping in Delaware State Forests is free, but you’ll need to reserve your spot. Blackbird State Forest is one of the best kept secrets around, and this secluded campground is sure to be your favorite spot to get away from it all. Free Delaware Dispersed Camping Permits are available at the Forest Office.
2. The Cottages at Indian River Marina: The gorgeous Cottages at Indian River Marina are part of Delaware Seashore State Park and has Free Delaware Boondocking. You can enjoy the peace and quiet of these secluded sites while still enjoying the modern amenities offered by cabin camping! The sunrise and sunset views are breathtaking.
3. Redden State Forest, Georgetown: Redden State Forest in Georgetown is a great place for free camping in Delaware. Reserve your campsite for your next Free Delaware Boondocking Locations. Each site offers a picnic table, charcoal grill and fire ring.
4. Cape Henlopen State Park, Lewes: Cape Henlopen State Park may be one of the state’s most popular hiking destinations, but it’s still easy to secure a campsite and enjoy some peace and quiet in the woods. 6. The Safari Tents at Massey’s Landing: The Resort at Massey’s Landing may seem like a busy, bustling family campground, but it also offers plenty of secluded accommodation options. Free Delaware Dispersed Camping: It has two tent sites where you can do some traditional camping in a secluded corner of the campground. as well as three safari tents and dozens of beach cottages that allow you to glamp in peace.
7. Treasure Beach, Selbyville: Treasure Beach is the place to go if you’ve got an RV but want to avoid the big beach crowds. This RV park and campground is close to Fenwick Island State Park’s quiet, secluded beach!
