At sunset, red-rock buttes light up in the slanting light. Majestic mountains are tipped white by recent snowfall, and pine forests are blanketed by a dark green blanket of needles. North-central Arizona is full of natural beauty. North-central Arizona also has a lot of artifacts from its first inhabitants, like well-preserved homes and petroglyphs that show how Native American cultures have changed over more than a thousand years.

It’s even more fun to go exploring in this area because there are so many geographical delights, like huge craters made by meteors and volcanoes. With the Grand Canyon in the area this is one of the Northern Arizona boondocking areas where spots are at a premium and you should plan well in advance to get a good spot.
