I am so excited to share the traditional Finnish Lihapullat ja Muusi recipe that I found while on a trip! When I tasted these meatballs, I knew I had to learn how to make them myself.

Ingredients
2lbsground beef
1/2cupbreadcrumbs
1/2cupmilk
1egg
1/2onionfinely chopped
2garlic clovesminced
1tspsalt
1/2tspblack pepper
1/4tspallspice
4cupsmashed potatoes
Lingonberry jamoptional
Fresh parsleyoptional
Equipment
Large mixing bowl
Large frying pan or skillet
Potato masher or ricer
Large pot for boiling potatoes
Small saucepan for making gravy
Method
Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, milk, egg, chopped onion, minced garlic, salt, black pepper, and allspice. Mix well.
Shape the mixture into 24 meatballs.
Place the meatballs onto a lightly greased baking sheet and bake for 20-25 minutes or until fully cooked.
While the meatballs are cooking, prepare the mashed potatoes according to your preferred recipe.
Serve the meatballs with the mashed potatoes and lingonberry jam, if desired. Garnish with fresh parsley.
Make the meatballs ahead of time and freeze them for later use.Use a cookie scoop to portion out the meatballs evenly.To prevent the meatballs from falling apart, don't overwork the meat mixture when mixing in the other ingredients.To make the mashed potatoes extra creamy, add a dollop of sour cream.
