Equipment

Ingredients

  • 8 slices bread
  • 4 tbs butter
  • 4 tbs fruit chutney
  • 1 tomato sliced
  • Ā½ onion sliced red
  • 2 cups cheddar cheese grated sharp

Instructions

  • Each slice of bread should have butter spread on both sides.
  • Spread some cheese and fruit chutney on toast, then top with tomato and more cheese.
  • Then top with another slice of bread and some onion and cheese.
  • Place the sandwiches carefully on a hot grill or in a deep grill basket over a campfire (but not directly over the fire).
  • Toast and cheese should be cooked slowly over medium heat until browned and melted. Add bacon and or mushrooms if you like.

Preheat the grill before placing the Braai Broodjies for even cooking.
