Ingredients

Stew Ingredients

  • 2 pounds beef stew meat cut into 1-inch cubes
  • All-purpose flour
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 2 beef bouillon cubes
  • 2 cups boiling water
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 6 to 8 potatoes peeled and quartered
  • 3 onions quartered
  • 4 carrots sliced
  • 1 pkg green beans 9 ounces frozen cut green beans, thawed
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1/4 cup water

Dough Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 4 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 cup milk
  • Melted butter

Instructions

For the Meat:

  • Flour the meat cubes and set aside. In a large Dutch oven, brown the steak on all sides in oil.
  • In the meantime, in a Dutch oven, dissolve bouillon in boiling water. Add salt and pepper to taste. Cover and simmer for 1-1/2 to 2 hours, checking frequently, until the meat is cooked. Cook for another 30–45 minutes, or until the potatoes, onions, carrots, and beans are soft.
  • Cornstarch and water should be combined, then added to the stew to thicken it.

For the Biscuits:

  • Flour, baking powder, salt, oil, and milk should be mixed together in a big basin to make biscuits.
  • Add extra milk if necessary to produce a dough that is light and soft enough to stir.
  • Sprinkle over stew by the tablespoon.
  • Spread melted butter on top of the biscuits.
  • Biscuits should be baked, uncovered, at 350 degrees for 20 to 30 minutes.
