Equipment

  • Skillet or frying pan

Ingredients

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • Vegetable oil for frying

Instructions

  • In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  • Gradually add the milk to the dry ingredients, stirring until a soft dough forms.
  • Knead the dough on a floured surface for 5 minutes.
  • Divide the dough into 8 equal parts and roll each part into a ball.
  • Using a rolling pin, flatten each ball into a 6-inch circle.
  • Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  • Fry each dough circle until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side.
  • Remove the Fry Jacks from the skillet and drain on a paper towel.

Let the dough rest for 5-10 minutes before rolling it out to make it more pliable.
