Equipment

  • Large pot for boiling the Kumaras
  • Potato masher
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Grater

Ingredients

  • 4 large Kumaras sweet potatoes, peeled and chopped into chunks
  • 2 tablespoons grated ginger
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1/4 cup cream
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  • Place the chopped Kumaras in a large pot of salted water and bring to a boil.
  • Reduce heat to medium-low and simmer until the Kumaras are tender, about 20-25 minutes.
  • Drain the Kumaras and return them to the pot.
  • Add the grated ginger, butter, and cream to the pot.
  • Mash the Kumaras with a potato masher until smooth and creamy.
  • Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  • Serve hot.

Peel and chop the Kumaras ahead of time to save prep time.
Use an immersion blender or food processor to make the mash smoother and creamier.
