4green plantains
Salt to taste
Vegetable oil for frying
Instructions
Peel the plantains and slice them into rounds, about 1 inch thick.
Heat up enough oil in a frying pan over medium-high heat to cover the bottom of the pan.
Fry the plantain slices for about 2-3 minutes on each side, until they are lightly golden and crispy.
Remove the plantains from the pan and place them on a paper towel to drain any excess oil.
Using a tostonera (or a flat surface such as a cutting board and a can), flatten the plantains into thin discs.
Dip the flattened plantains into a bowl of salted water and then return them to the hot oil.
Fry the plantains for an additional 2-3 minutes on each side until they are crispy and golden brown.
Remove the plantains from the pan and place them on a paper towel to drain any excess oil.
