  • 1/2 cup chocolate sprinkles or sweetened or unsweetened cocoa powder see notes for more variations

Instructions

In a mixing bowl, combine:

  • a. 1/2 cup of soft butter
  • b. 1 cup of powdered sugar
  • c. 5 oz. of milk chocolate (chopped, or use chocolate bar.
  • d. 7 oz. of dark chocolate (chopped, or use chocolate bar.
  • e. 1/2 cup of brown rum (choose a strong rum, preferably 40-80% ABV.

Blend the ingredients together until you have a smooth mixture. This can be done with a hand mixer or by hand using a wooden spoon.

Cover the mixture with plastic wrap and refrigerate for about 1 to 2 hours, or until it becomes firm.

Once the mixture has chilled and solidified, remove it from the refrigerator.

Prepare a shallow dish with chocolate sprinkles or sweetened/unsweetened cocoa powder for rolling the Rumkugeln.

Now, take small portions of the chilled mixture and roll them into bite-sized balls using your hands. Ensure each ball is evenly sized.

Roll each ball in the chocolate sprinkles or cocoa powder to coat them evenly.

Place the coated Rumkugeln on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

Once you've rolled all the mixture into balls and coated them, return the baking sheet to the refrigerator for an additional 30 minutes to firm up the Rumkugeln.

                  Notes

Use high-quality chocolate for the best flavor.
Ensure the mixture is well-chilled before rolling into balls for easy handling.
Keep your hands slightly damp when rolling the Rumkugeln to prevent sticking.
You can customize the coating by using different toppings like chopped nuts or coconut flakes.
Adjust the amount of rum to your taste preferences, but be mindful of its strength.
Work in a cool kitchen to prevent the mixture from softening too quickly.
Double-check the consistency of the mixture before rolling to ensure it holds its shape.
