Ingredients

  • 2 pounds ground beef
  • 8 ounces bacon
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 2 eggs large
  • 1 onion chopped
  • 1/2 cup parsley coarsely chopped fresh flat-leaf
  • Salt pepper, and preferred seasonings
  • 1 tbsp worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tbsp barbecue sauce

Instructions

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, bacon (finely chopped or processed into small pieces), breadcrumbs, eggs, chopped onion, coarsely chopped fresh flat-leaf parsley, salt, pepper, preferred seasonings, Worcestershire sauce, and barbecue sauce. Mix well until all the ingredients are evenly incorporated.

  • a. Break the eggs into a separate bowl before adding them to the mixture.
  • b. Use your hands or a spoon to thoroughly mix the ingredients together, ensuring even distribution of flavors.
  • c. Make sure the bacon is finely chopped or processed to ensure it is evenly distributed throughout the rissoles.
  • d. Use a sharp knife to finely chop the onion before adding it to the mixture.
  • e. The fresh flat-leaf parsley should be coarsely chopped before incorporating it into the mixture.

Once the mixture is well combined, divide it into 8 equal portions. Take each portion and shape it into a round patty, flattening it slightly. Repeat this process until you have formed all the rissoles.

  • a. Use your hands to gently shape the portions into patties, ensuring they are compact and hold their shape.
  • b. Flatten each patty slightly to promote even cooking.
  • c. Place the formed patties on a clean plate or tray.

Preheat your barbecue grill to medium-high heat. Make sure the grill grates are clean and well-oiled to prevent sticking.

  • a. Turn on the barbecue grill and adjust the heat settings to medium-high.
  • b. Allow the grill to preheat for a few minutes until it reaches the desired temperature.
  • c. Use a grill brush to clean the grates and remove any residue from previous use.
  • d. Lightly oil the grates with cooking spray or a brush dipped in oil to prevent the rissoles from sticking.

Carefully place the rissoles on the preheated grill. Cook them for about 6-8 minutes per side, or until they are browned and cooked through.

  • a. Use a spatula to transfer the rissoles onto the grill grates, ensuring they are evenly spaced.
  • b. Close the lid of the grill to maintain heat and promote even cooking.
  • c. Cook the rissoles for approximately 6-8 minutes on one side before flipping them over.
  • d. Continue cooking for another 6-8 minutes on the other side, or until the rissoles are browned and cooked to your desired level of doneness.

Once cooked, carefully remove the rissoles from the grill and transfer them to a serving platter. Allow them to rest for a few minutes before serving.

  • a. Use a spatula to gently lift the rissoles off the grill, ensuring they remain intact.
  • b. Transfer the cooked rissoles to a clean platter or plate.
  • c. Let the rissoles rest for a few minutes to allow the juices to redistribute, ensuring moist and flavorful results.

Serve the Australian Barbecued Beef and Bacon Rissoles hot and enjoy them as desired. They can be served on burger buns with condiments and toppings of your choice, or as a main dish alongside side dishes like salads or roasted vegetables.
